Graeme, I assume that if the 19's fit the GOE 18 inch wheels would fit. My 285x60 R18 tyres ride way better than the 255x55 R19 tyres.

No, the GOE rims don't fit over the TDV8 / SC brakes. They do fit over the petrol V8 brakes (same as 3.0 D4) so the callipers and discs would need to be changed. The V8 discs are the same as the D4. I understand that 18" RR rims fit over the rear brakes and the clearance with the 19" suggest they would. A front brake change is my last resort fix.
G'day Grant
I hope you don't think I wasn't having a go. I have a single 285/60/18 that came with a GOE rim and it looks tall in comparison to a standard 255/55/19. So I was wondering about how drive shafts, cvs and diffs cope in cross axle situations with the additional resistance of bigger tyres. Admittedly it looks fairly normal against my 285/65/16s on the 110.
After my tranny mishap I've started thinking about how a broken shaft, cv or diff could be a show stopper in a very inaccessible location.
I am considring options for 20 inch tyres for my 2010 tdV8 RRS...I have lots of information on tyre choices... but can anyone tell me the maximum size 20" wheel plus tyre (so largest possible diameter) that fits in the wheel well under the car?
There is a similar thread in the D3/D4/RRS section. It sounds like 285/50/20 is the biggest that will work.
