Is it a Redarc remote head or Towpro? If it is mine was fitted by Australs (LR Qld) on the rhs of the steering column.

A bit of an update. I ended up buying the Towpro. I made a bit of progress today. I managed to put a guide wire through the sill channel from the front to the back, using a HF stainless antenna.
Also, I took off the dash side panel which has a heap of room for the brain box. I was going to mount it up the back but this looks a good spot. Is there any problem putting here.

I'm looking at putting the control dial on the plastic wood panel below the headlight switch. These seems to be enough room.

I would rather pick up battery power at the back rather than hook directly on the battery. Is there a recommended point at the back to pick up power?

Mine (Td6 Vogue 2006) is just infront of the left knee, wouldnt be my first pick of spots but doesnt really get in the way too often (I Have long legs and sit close to the wheel)
I think you will find that panel is diecast metal, as I mentioned in my message to you. There is a bit of a trick to removing that panel. I googled it and found a video for an earlier TD6. Wasn't exactly the same, but set me on the right path (screws inside vent, etc).
You can get power at the back on the right hand side. There is a thick red cable that will supply plenty of amps. Use an appropriate circuit breaker.

The burl wood panel on mine is fibreglass or plastic with possibly a thin alloy backing. But yes its probably 4.5 mm thick so will need to be reduced to take the control switch.
I think I watched the same vid from Powerfuluk. I couldn't see how to remove the vent.
Im starting to consider the burl wood panel to the side of the side of the air con controls. Or maybe to the right of the clock. Mines a poverty pack so doesn't have a dial on either side of the clock.
I thought the main battery supply might be the source, but wasn't sure. Ive picked up some RJ45 (ethernet) cable from Dick Smith (very expensive but didn't have time to go elsewhere).

I have mounted all the controllers in the last few years in the Steering column cowling. The have all been a mix of Red Arc EBRH or Tow Pro units.
Run all 4 wires from the just above the bonnet release panel to the rear of the vehicle.
Black via a Circuit breaker to the main feed of the Fuse panel in the R/H/R & the Earth to the Earth bolt Just behind the Loadspace light(If you undo the 2 turnbuckles that hold the panel to the side, it will move enough to gain access to the earth point.)![]()
The Red & Blue wire go to the trailer circuitry & connect the Red to Red (Pin 6 Wire-Brakes) & Blue to Brown (Pin 5 Wire-Variable voltage feed)
If the vehicle is an earlier model the wiring colours may be different.
To remove the floor panel (Aluminium Tread plate) just grab a corner & lift, Be careful they can be sharp as they are a lump of alloy. Once these are removed you can then remove the plastic B pillar trim.
That is all i remove as i use a wire guide(bent coat hanger) to feed the cable to the Rear. Maybe remove door seal around the rear wheel arch to get a feel of where to feed cable.

How might the bonnet release panel and the steering column cowling be removed please?
I thought I might mount the towpro switch just below the headlight switch but want to consider other options. My towpro unit is mounted in the rear as I already had a long cat-5 cable for the switch which is currently tucked between the seat and the centre console, keeping my Llams switches company. Can't rush these jobs!

It's surprisingly easy Graeme, even I can do it. You lift the bonnet lever and gently pull it out. It just pops off. The sills also pop off really easy. I used an antenna to push a guide wire through. My tow pro switch is mounted under the headlight switch. Same as Big Jon.
