    MY10-MY12 front CVD wiring warning

The original wiring at the top of the front CVDs for all MY10-MY12 L322s is not sufficiently durable and often fails, leaving the CVDs disabled which provides a rougher ride as well as disabling special programs. LR have produced a wiring patch kit LR032839 using much improved wires. For anyone contemplating remote area travel it would seem prudent to remove the cover from on top of each front shock tower (2 screws), gently remove the cover and gasket and inspect the wires. Broken wires can be rejoined as a temporary fix but fitting replacement wiring tails at any sign of deterioration would be the preferred preventative action.

Thanks Graeme - ours in for a service in three weeks so will email Australs and advise I want the patch done asap. We hit the Plenty and Donaghue "Highways" with Van in tow, in 7 weeks or so - so this was a timely post!
    Cheers

Thanks Graeme...I just checked this with the dealer who told me there are no outstanding recalls for my vehicle (a 2012 model). My VIN ends in 381809, which falls between your numbers above.

He says he hasn't heard anything about dodgy wiring in the CVDs.

There were no recalls for this, only that the repair kit is available. Remove the caps from the tops of the shocks and inspect the wires. It seems that most often they break under the cover between the grommet and the connector but sometimes outside the cover where they're visible.

Good idea Chris, I'll get mine checked anyway, regardless of what the dealer says.
