Mate you can borrow my P38 for a week or two while you're sorting the L322 if you need to tow the horses.
My L322 doesn't have the tow electrics module.

A quick internet search shows that you need to use an X5 motor & swap the sump & front covers over. Probably other bolt on bits too I'd imagine.
Engine is toast....

That is just terrible news eumundimerc. It must be shattering for you.....having such a wonderful car but which can't be repaired plus the loss of the cars value.
Your situation also puts a whole new [negative] perspective on buying a BMW powered L322 V8.

Think your problem is that this is a BMW engine. Special tools required to do rebuild and they are not on general issue. This is normal BMW practice to keep you in dealer network. Even in UK these are difficult to repair know of only 3 places which could do the job that are not dealers.

Depending on the cost and how much you want to spend , could you consider a different engine?
Anything from a 6.2 petrol v8 to a (after 2007)6.6 duramax tdv8. These are common swaps in certain jap 4bies. Even a later model BMW v8.

Try the bloke below. he is a well known BMW independent who IMHO would have the knowledge to fit a BMW motor and may be able to find one..
