I Think I'll borrow a circuit tester and check the brake lights, but I appreciate your help.
I'll keep you updated, but the Redarc install went well, enough space behind the clock etc to hide the control box.

That spot looks good. Never considered putting it there.

How'd you go Splud? this actually sounds far more complicated than it is, once you get in there with pliers and soldering iron it is actually a really simple mod. Give me a ring if you want - you're too far to do what RAR110 did...
AND where did that driving light switch come from??

It actually wasn't that hard to fit, the difficult bit was making sure I was cutting into the correct wires.
As to the Redarc, I got it locally, recommended by a mate who was fed up with bashing his knees on the other units!
There is more than enough space to put the control box behind the dash, I did have to butcher a little of the plastic though (not the front facia) to fit it in. I fed the positive etc wires on the driver's side and then ran them to the battery compartment.
Found the Blue/Black wire very easy at the footwell on the driver's side to cut into and ran the blue brake wire back to the rear. After cutting a few wires to figure out the correct ones, it all seems to be working!
I haven't towed yet with it, thats on Monday, but I did connect up a standard trailer and all works, although I am getting the dreaded "trailer light error" message, but I think that's because of the LED's on the trailer.
