    2002 td6

I have a problem with my rangie going up hills
It has no power and I am pushing to get up to 40 km on a steep hill
Recently I changed the air and oil filters. The problem was there before I did the service.
Can anyone shed any light on this problem
    Cheers Paul

Does it whistle at all under load? If so, check the small vacuum line between the inlet manifold and the turbo actuator plenum on the drivers side of the engine. Pull the hose off and stick your finger over it - if you have no suction, you will have no power as the vacuum is required to operate the VNT turbo. If you have vacuum there, check at the turbo for the same thing. The vacuum line gets brittle and cracks and this causes a slow decline in power until it won't go up hills anymore. It will still start fine and not throw any fault codes.

A MAF is a mass air flow sensor. it measures the volume of air going into the engine. when you disconnect it will go to default setting. It still wont have full power but will be driveable if the MAF has failed. It is a common failure. It's located near the air filter.

I had similar issue and it turned out to be injector harness. $130 for a new harness and about 40 mins later and issue was fixed. I hope yours is as simple!

With power loss, I always recommend checking the inline fuel pump, put ur head down infront of the L.H rear wheel (not while moving or in neutral) and if you can hear a whinning/buzzing sound, it most likely needs to be replaced along with the fuel filter.
it will come to the point where they can stop completely and be intermittently working.
I ended up replacing it twice, second time with a more common/cheaper/reliable bosche pump
