I somehow brought up the on/off road menu earlier today when about to enter a street address but couldn't find a way back to it, but presumably bounced on the switch. As it happened the local street wasn't known so overall of not much use.
I suspect that the method of getting to off-road navigation has been changed, perhaps previously directly from the DEST button but someone (everyone) forgot to update the manual.

Ive spoken to a BMW( yes our belived L322's) systems guy and he believes there aren't any offroad maps for Australia. Said you'd probably only get a compass direction and possibly track from where you were.
Looks like aftermarket then for any serious offroad stuff?

You will be surprised at how many tracks are actually shown on the offroad map setting, it is only really good for plotting your track as you go and marking campsites. I use hema maps on the "PDF Map" app on my phone for navigating.
But you just push the navigation button twice to bring up the selection between on road and off

If (big IF) LR did put some tracks on the offroad setting, they might be gazetted roads; copied from Land Dept maps.
In the past, I've been on some real bush tracks throughout FNQ, that were actually gazetted roads, although they hadn't seen a grader for last 10-20 years, even if ever!
