I've found that mine's a/c compressor engagement is delayed until system voltage is at a decent level, this being a voltage management decision rather than a compressor clutch issue.

    Graeme,

Would that be the same with the D4? Mine has started taking a minute or two for the air to get cold since the inlet manifolds were replaced, which meant stripping everything out of the engine bay. Once started the A/C is fine.

I hadn't recalled any delay with the D4. It was the RRV's delay that seemed strange especially for the target audience for these vehicles.

Looking back Graham, I think it's more than a voltage thing on my car. It was several minutes before cool air started flowing, and only then after I'd fiddled with all the AC controls, including putting it on 'auto' and 'recirculate'.

Mine's delay, when it occurs, is only 10 seconds or so. Today no delay, possibly because I used a charger recently after having depleted both batteries trying for some time to get the Faultmate to make CCF changes stick.

My D4 delay is a minute or more also. There was never any delay before they replaced the inlet manifolds. Something has changed. I guess I will have to go back to the repairer.

Is this a delay for cool air to come out or any air to come out of the vents??
I have had the delay where it seemed to be the control flaps stuck half way somewhere and no air coming out despite the fan going at full tilt.
I was on the beach at the time and it was quite warm so I was angry, but some large bumps and let it sit for a bit and all came good...kinda like most issues on these things

Air comes out correctly but no cooling on mine. Just warm air.

It's a couple of different - but possibly related - problems on mine, and even then, only intermittently. Sometimes, like you, I get no air at all from the face vents and have to rely on footwell outlets. Other times, warm air for several minutes from the face vents until the cool air kicks in. I've booked it in at the dealer on Monday for a check under warranty. No doubt though, it'll work fine when I take it in there.
