That's a good point Gav, there is a culture on here to encourage the fitting of illegal tyres, yet the mention of a front bar has us all fly-by lawyers. Given that oversize tyres diminish the effectiveness of brakes every day, and a bar may change the impact zone in the case of a accident, it really puts it in perspective. Especially when there's a chance the accident may be caused by the oversize tyres:p

From a getting caught point, the oversize tyres are an easy target for the insurance companies...

Yep, I've always found it amusing that some here will go on about my light bar on my roof being illegal, or a non approved bar is illegal or that fishing rod holders are illegal who all run tyres larger than 50mm diameter more than the largest factory option which makes them illegal too...:D

I can take my light bar off in a couple of minutes should the Police protest, but I bet you have a long walk home if you have one that picks on your 33's or 35's. And yes, the chances of these tyre combinations causing an accident are far higher than my light bar, my mates fishing rod holder or a non approved bar...

I thought the L322 had the same ZF 6 speed thats in the D3/4 from about 2006 onwards? Which AFAIK is a pretty decent transmission when serviced correctly. Before that they had a weaker 5 speed, which isnt rated for the specs of the motor (who knows why they put that in...)

Is that correct?

The D3 and L320 has the same model transmission and transfer box as the L322 Tdv8 3.6. However, D3 and most L320 transmissions have a different ZF spec number.

Hi guys,

Any news on the development of a bullbar for the L322? I've recently bought an 08 TDV8 and would love to bolt one on before it gets too knocked around in the scrub.

On a more disappointing note I got our local specialist to pull the pan off the auto and replace the fluid. A short while after it starting playing up with a nasty downchange and going into limp home mode. It's either the mechatronics unit not giving enough pressure to 5th gear or worn out clutches. Either way it's a rebuild. Glad I bought an aftermarket warranty.

that is disappointing. Yes how many KM? I also have the 08MY tdv8 L322. It needed a new tranny but only because either ZF or JLR forgot to put any grease on the output shaft spline. Otherwise the transmission was good at 240,000km. Im at 251,000km and still running the original mechatronic. Mine had a transmission service at about 130 & 233,000km.

If fault code P2704 then most likely your VIN is in the range listed in LTB00514 that affects vehicles (all LR and other makes) from a particular VIN in MY08 through MY11 due to stator bush material being changed from bronze to white-metal (a lead-free improvement!) which doesn't last, although very frequent oil changes seems to prevent the wear. The worn stator bushes prevent adequate oil pressure for clutch E but old oil must be thicker (perhaps with metal) than new oil because the fault regularly occurs soon after an oil change. When my D4's box failed early last year ZF Australia were offering a complete rebuild for far less money ($3950+GST) than independent rebuilders quoted. Fault code P2704 can only be caused by the worn bushes but other fault codes may also be recorded.
