Love the engine and that fsntastic gearbox however performing some tasks such as turbo replacement and alternator replacement without being able to remove the body is just a horror story....😕

Yep the body off trick is really absurd. Love the td6 models. Cheers
There is no V6 FFRR :)
Straight 6 using the BMW M57 3L turbo diesel, or the 3.6 and 4.4 TDV8s.
Plus the petrol V8s.

Just sold mine on, as stated, apart from the transmission these cars are brilliant. Turbo replacement on the TD6 is straightforward, but a bit fiddly. Nothing to get into a twist about. The engines are superb, the transfer case and diffs have no known issues. They can chew through batteries but if you drive them everyday, it isn't a huge issue.
The who,e car is quite an easy vehicle to maintain and there are **** loads of parts around at reasonable prices - I'm sure you'll have no issues on the strong. :)
Buy one, everyone should own at least one in their lifetime - it will leave a lasting impression and make pretty much any other car you own look inferior. :D
To be pedantic, there is no V6 L322 FFRR.
L405 however......

2006 saw an increase in reliability according to some. Bang for buck I think this sort of vehicle is pretty good, a Jag 4.4 na. Jag v8 na has pretty good reports for reliability and less complex than a tdv8 but the same kW. It has a ZF 6 speed 6HP26 like the tdv8 so quite smooth. It is also the last model with a manual handbrake.

However, I think a 4.2SC would be a cracker.
