My happy grin disappeared today, Flat battery!

I had the radio going whilst I was doing some interior work on the rangie, then there was some sort of weird solenoid rattling noise, I removed the ignition key and it stopped.
Then I went inside and came back to hear a horn type sound coming from my Rangie, it was locked and couldn't get the doors open, the key in the door lock would not turn either. I had the tail gate open , I tried to press the tail gate unlock and nothing. So I climbed in via the tail gate and manually unlocked the door. I managed to pull the bonnet and checked the battery with a multi meter. 6 Volts barely, and even those were fluctuating for .4-.6 volts.
So off to Battery World and 45 mins late was back with an 880 CCA battery Yuasa $299.00.
10 mins to pull and fit .
Bit annoyed it takes 2 people to change a battery, I to hold the bonnet so the other can undo the struts and lock the service leavers.
I fitted it and turned the key and she came to life.
I used the iidtool to clear all the errors that the flat battery brought up and all it at peace at roverlord now.

It Suprises me how this battery died a sudden death just with the radio on , I supposed it's all those brain boxes working in the back ground.,

    Oh the joys.

You can do the bonnet bit on your own once you get the hang of it and what procedure to use. I can't ever recall a time when I had the luxury of having someone help me.

The 3 batteries mine chewed through while I owned it all died quite suddenly as well. I gave up spending the big dollars on the 'correct' battery as I can get good quality N86's off a mates buisness for cost - for well under half of what one of these puppies cost.

You should get a few years now without issue.

I did a delivery today to a customer and he had a 1000CCA Caterpillar battery in his D2 V8 and he told me he paid no where near what I paid for his direct from a caterpillar dealer. Hmm might be worth considering next time.
    Cheers, mario
