Thread: Ignition key barrel should there be a flap closing it when key is out?

With the ignition key barrel, shouldn't there be a flap inside that closes when the key is out? I just noticed mine doesn't have a flap, and thought it was a good entry point for crud to fall down. If it is supposed to have one then mine must be stuck open, wondering if a bit of graphite might free it up it there is supposed to be one.
I did some googling and found a video and see that this one also has an open key barrel.see pic
So is this a feature or a fault?

in there wisdom Land rover built the hi tech fold away coffee cup holder on the other side of the console to prevent coffee spilling down the lock barrel.

At least I can sleep ok now knowing that you all have no flap and it is normal.
