    Rear Distribution Board - Ignition

About to run wires from RDB to relay for Anderson Plug.
Lots of helpful info on site (especially harlie - thanks).
But where are we picking up the live ignition from to trigger the relay?
    Help Appreciated.

And in case, I am back - Sold the Disco and the P38 and the Freelander.
Now running a LM322 and Sport - once a Land Rover Lover - always a Land Rover Lover - with skinned knuckles!

    Cheers

my understanding is there is no direct "ignition" power signal at the rear. for my rear electrics, i have used the positive feed into the boot interior light to trigger a relay. this comes on when the car is unlocked (all the lights come on and car wakes up) and turns off 5 mins after locking or 10 or so if not locked

Sounds like a solid solution. This would presumably keep it away from the main vehicle ECU's. I will test on mine tonight.
I also found on another site late last night that pin 10 on connector C2022 in the Rear has an ignition signal.
I ran a meter across it and it seems true but it may have 'ECU' implications if there was a spike.

    Many thanks for your information.

There sure is an ignition source - I will check... Long time since I did all that, but yes, mine switches with the key.

If I decide to run off that pin 10 on the connector I will place a 'flying wheel' diode across the relay coil. Will give me some comfort and hopefully reduce risk of damaging any ECU's in the circuit.
I will have to wait until next week to decide and hook this thing up.
Flying across the Tasman to see Melbourne Airshow this weekend.

Completed wiring in P3 Brake Controller tonight.
Will post pictures next week of installation and my modified Window Sucker that holds the P3.
May save someone the trouble I had in making a decision.
Or at least give them an another option to that of sticking it down around your knees.

    Till next week.

    Electric Brake Controller P3 Installation

As promised - photo of P3 installation.

I had a spare window sucker that I was able to modify the base of.
Cut off the base at the right angle - a little fiddly getting the angle right!
Pushed some plastic metal filler into the base which added some body and strength to it.
Drilled up through the centre for a long bolt to pickup on a nut I had inserted.
Drilled another offset hole and pushed a pin into it. This pin prevents the P3 mounting bracket from rotating.
Marked the position of the sucker onto the window so I don't have to waste time getting it lined up every time I swap between RR's.

What I like is that it is easily visible and out of the way of my knees. Reaching the brake lever is easy.
Some comments on the net suggest mounting it in the middle so that a passenger can activate the lever if it all goes wrong.
Not sure about that one yet.
In any case, thought I would share.
    Cheers
