LR322 Final Stage Resistor Aircon Blower Problem

After a nice Sunday drive the missus and I parked our V8 LR322 into the garage. The air conditioner was running as it was quite a warm day up here in the tropics. I switched off the motor but noticed I could still hear the front blower fan running quietly at slow speed. ( motor off, key out )
A little research and the general consensus was a faulty FSR. On eBay I found an FSR in U.K. At a reasonable price including freight with the correct part number. After a small amount of blood letting and a bit of bark missing from my hands I had the new one installed within an hour. A quick check by turning on the front blower before closing the dash/footwell proved I has fixed nothing.
I ran the motor and used my RSW Solutions All Comms and checked the HEVAC module, opened, read, and cleared but no fault registered. I decided to do a hard restart on the ECU by shorting the positive and negative supply cables (battery disconnected) Then re diagnosed the HEVAC With RSW dongle. No faults! Fan still not running. Of course the fuses were the first thing to check and were OK.
I am thinking the UK FSR replacement may be faulty so I have ordered a BMW replacement locally.
If the blower still refuses to run with the new FSR then I am stumped. I have searched RAVE to see if there is a relay or fuse link somewhere that I could check but can't find any reference to their existence.
Has anyone had a similar experience?
    any help would be appreciated.

as for fan running, every time you open a door the system wakes up and starts purging even with key off. When a FSR fails you usually end up with a flat battery.
