4.4 BMW motor BEST removal way

After info on the best or easiest way to remove a 4.4BMW V8 out of a 2003 HSE.

    All help and ideas appreciated.

Out the top or as a complete unit with gearbox on the cradle from underneath?

Mine cost about $9500 to rebuild and was off the road for months. In hindsite should have sold car as is and cut my losses . Selling car for $14950 with everything fully checked and have spent that or more in the last 3 years.

Dunno much about these. Is a body lift out of the question?

Going to have a go at pulling it out underneath on the sub frame with the gearbox attached. Wish me luck.

I pulled the motor once in my garage by myself and once at a shop with a lift. Both times from the top. No issues - motor only.

Lift helped to drain fluid - take off wheel, axle, axle and diff disconnect, tranny bolts and the like. It is not that bad a job.
