    Loose ignition key switch.

The internals of my 2007 RR ignition switch are getting to the stage where it is hit and miss when I try to turn on my ignition.

When I turn the key in the switch, it either works first time or I have to rattle it till it does turn.

Any suggestions as to what is needed to be done to repair/replace the switch?

Mine on the County does too.
I believe its because we carry a bunch of junk on the same key ring. The weight joggling around buggers it inside.
I carry two rings ,one for the Ign /door. and another for the house ,shed ,front gate etc.
With the last two cars I built , I put in a pair of hidden toggle switches, one for ign and the other start. Side by side so I can hit them both at once
The keyhole on the dash is just for show now. Solves the problem.

Good to here it's running again. Do you think it's hardware or an imobilisation issue?

Hi mate, I think it's a hardware problem.

I have looked up numerous threads all over the net and electronic/software problems usually means you can not turn the key.

With mine, sometimes it works perfectly, other times I have to riggle the key while turning it.

So far I have not come across the fix yet.

I had this problem about 1 year ago.

simply used an air gun to blow out the key hole. had to do it a few times that month but it came all good and havent had a problem since.

crap, i probably just jinxed myself!

anyway, try this before anything else.

    Hi GL and thanks.

I sprayed some Lenox into the key insert and I forgot all about it as it has been working ever since.

I was told by a very knowledgeable locksmiff never to use crc or similar in a lock. Especially if it then can attract dust etc. He recommended only contact cleaner and compressed air, then graphite powder.
