Got word today that the Rangie will be repaired, pretty happy with that as I had just put rego, new tyres and new front struts in the vehicle. The vehicle will be stripped and put on a chassis jig to ensure 100% that no twisting or impact damage has affected the chassis. The smash repairer drives a L322 Range Rover for himself so Im confident he will do a top job on it.

Well good news that both the OP and the Range Rover have survived. I'm guessing looking at the damage on the rangie its prolly round that 10K to repair, so its was prolly a touch and go, it takes so little now for insurance to right a vehicle off.
On the other side of this story is the moron txting while driving 1.5 ton or more of motor vehicle, one would be forgiven if on the side of the road the OP had of held his boot against the throat of the driver.... and the "oh he didnt make it" would realistically have been a better end to the story.
Hopefully the next time he is driving and txting (and we all know morons like this wont learn) its a 60 ton road train that he hits and him and the car turn into instant confetti. But the reality is he will likely hit and kill some ones child while driving through a school zone.
Drivers like that need to have a life ban from driving a motor vehicle, which contrary to popular belief is a serious thing

I'd say it would be around $10000 to $12000 to repair it.
Altho mine was the complete rear end,it didn't do any damage to the side panels which the OP has.
Hope chassis is not affect at all.

The quote I saw was $13,750, which was approved for repair, that may go up if they find any other issues during the strip down.
Your right Daz, once I found old mate in the paddock and he was OK, he nearly had some other more serious injuries when he admitted to texting, I was bloody furious, I drive the Monaro Hwy every day, and the number of close calls I see during the ski season is frightening. And its always impatience, fatigue or a lack of attention that causes the head ons, Im glad that Im normally driving a semi on that stretch of road to give me some protection against the weekend warriors.
