    How is the jack retained?

Can I assume the jack in an L322 is retained by a stretched rubber ring, something like an O-ring?

If so, can/would someone be able to measure the diameter and thickness of it?

    My jack rattles around.

It might be cheaper to buy a rubber ring than trying to get one from LR (if they even carry it as a spare in Oz).

IIRC the rubber ring thing is correct although I can't check this any more.

Doesn't the jack slot in front of the spare and then winds up to stop it rattling around? Thats how mine is secured

Mine had a broken piece of rubber, may be a piece of that thingo you identified Ron. I just wrap mine in a piece of towel, easier than trying to do it u

Ours has what looks more like a rubber strap , stretchy but a flat not round .

The picture you show is of the thing that pulls the spare out of the hole when hooked to the tail gate .

When hooked on ( it has straps as well ) and the tailgate is lowered the spare is lifted out to a manageable spot with little to no effort .

Gav showed us when we picked it up or i wouldn`t know .

My wheel lifter looks a little different.

OK, it seems it is a big rubber band that I need. I tried winding up the jack. Maybe I had better try again.

    Thanks chaps

Yes , your right , had a look and the center of the lift is different but other wise look similar though without dimensions .

Other than the lift i can see nought like the pic though an HSE .

While there had a look at the strap and it has a loop/hole either end the middle fits in a clip it is a length not a circle .
