Crikey! I didn't pay that much for both and that was locally.

It was ~$1.6k for the part then labour was on top; about ~$1.9 ex GST - Although fitted by an indie I think the part came from JLR/Dealer hence the Dick Turpin price!

The 2010 to 2012 Strut is a more expensive than the pre 2010 also; its a different part. Even from the UK its about twice the price of the pre 2010 Strut.

Its not surprising local loses out when you can land one in Aus from UK and save 1/3 if not more on the part inc postage. If I had more time to replace this one I would have got it from overseas and then fitted. I will do that with LH side next month or so.

You could buy the Bilstein version from a UK supplier at half the cost of the genuine part.

My suspension has done the same thing.
Prior to going on a 3 week holiday to China I drove it into the shopping mall and lowered it down to access height.
On the way out I noticed a strange hissing noise but it seemed to raise and be ok.
I wasn’t sure if it was the disc brakes making a sort of hissing noise.
When I came back I drove my car for the day and all seemed fine. Then late in the arvo I drove into the mall and lowered it.
The front right dropped down that low that it was scrapping.
It never raised again and the whole car was on its bump stops.
I’ve ordered a new pair of Delphi front units for around £300 each.
My local mechanic will hopefully replace them next week.
9 years fur mine to go.

    Air Suspension Issue

One of the things to help me decide to keep my 2008 L322 instead of upgrading to a much, much, much nicer 4.4 with 8 speed was 18” wheels and the simplicity of non CVDs. I only need one spare if gong bush.

The rear CVDs are only handed for quick fitting as the top mount has to be rotated to change from left to right use. 18" rims - not so easily fitted although in NSW at least, fitting the na 5.0 front brakes is a user certified change and allows 18" Comps to fit.
