    Air Compressor Mounting

Has anyone with a TDV8 mounted a air/tyre compressor to their car - looking to see if anyone has found a space where one could go permanently?

I have a ARB compressor. My plan was to make a ply box shaped to fit into the driver side alcove in the cargo area, with the hose. I have a traxide DBS and was intending to use the Anderson plug for power with a switch. My plan was to velcro it in position when on trips. And remove it other times.

Hi. I just fitted the ARB CKMA12 next to the brake booster on my left hand drive 07 RR S/C. I relocated the alarm siren a few inches to make space. The right side (where my battery is) appears to have similar mounting points and so the unit would probably fit a right hand drive vehicle.
The compressor sits upright and is bolted to a 6”x8”x1/4 aluminium plate which then attaches to the side body structure using existing mounting points. I mounted it filter side down and then used a 1/2” ID vinyl tube to relocate the filter to an accessible location. Getting to all of the bolts was a pain and next time I would completely remove the wheel arch liner to gain access from below. Otherwise, I am very happy with the result.

Photos of my ARB air compressor installation.
    Notes:
This is a left hand drive vehicle. The same mounting points exist on the right side. I am not sure of how the brake lines are routed on a RHD vehicle, but if the same master cylinder is used, you may even have more clearance.
In this area, the vehicle has three unused M6 weld nuts of which I used the lower two. The alarm siren was mounted with two captive M6 nuts of which I used one for a total of three to mount the 6x8x1/4” aluminium plate.
The upper captive nut is not quite in the same plane as the weld nuts and I used a couple of rubber spacers to space out the top of the plate. This also allowed space for the heads of the four compressor mount bolts.
The alarm system siren has been relocated a few inches and bolted to the plastic composite divider.
I also mounted the ARB fuse and relay to convenient places nearby and ran the power feed harness under the cabin filter box and away from the wiper mechanism.
The compressor is mounted with the piston and filter end downwards since the T piece air fitting did not provide enough clearance for the ARB hose kit quick connect to point upwards. Consequently, I remote mounted the filter using some 1/2” ID hose and brass fittings for easy access.
There’s about 10-15 mm of clearance from the compressor to the nearest brake line.
I highly recommend removing the wheel arch liner from underneath to get access to the lower two mounting plate bolts. I did most of my work from above and have scars to prove it.
Lastly, the ARB wiring harness has many extra circuits for controlling solenoids for two air lockers. These are easy to cut out. The harness has a beefy pre-installed fuse which is at the compressor end of the harness. Ideally it would have been at the battery end to protect the power feed wires as well as the compressor. I recommend adding a 40A fuse at the battery.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

I've just been revisiting this, and I don't believe this fitting will work in my MY10 TDV8 RHD model as there are components in the gap where its located on the LHD as shown.

I Can't see any other areas 'under the bonnet' where one will fit...
