Car has Brembo calipers and 20" rims, which I am wanting to change to 18" (D4 rims), to fit higher profile tyres.
Seems that unless I want to fork out for "offroad" wheels, that I won't need, since I would use the D2 for "offroad", that fitting D4 calipers on front will allow me to run 18" wheels.
I am assuming D4 calipers just bolt straight on (same discs)? I assume it would be the later D4 caliper 2010 onwards Part No: LR047906.
Since some 2010 model L322's had D4 calipers anyway, I'm not thinking I will notice a great deal of difference in braking capacity with normal motoring.
Any advice against going down that path to fit 18"?
What model is your L322? MY07-09 Brembos can't simply be replaced with D4 calipers because the MY07-09 bolt holes in the strut are too small. If MY11/12 with 6-pot Range Rover calipers then D4 calipers will fit but require the spacers used on the na 5.0. The discs are larger than used with the 2-piston sliding calipers so likely will need the 5.0 discs. D4 discs aren't suitable because the retaining screw hole is in the wrong position.

After looking back through this thread I see that the vehicle in question is a MY10 3.6. If this vehicle has 4-piston Brembos then the calipers must be from a 3.6 RRS as the RRS has the same bolt hole size as the MY10-12 L322. Regardless, the MY10 3.6 orginally had 2-piston sliding calipers the same as 3.0 D4 calipers so no problem legally reverting to the original calipers. Furthermore IIRC (I'll check shortly - now confirmed) the discs for the 4-piston calipers are the same as originally fitted with the 2-piston sliding calipers.
The spacers will be required. Note that LR's price for one of them can't be correct as it is multiple times the price of the other side and all non-LR suppliers quote the same erroneous price. LH LR023938 approx $100, RH LR023937 approx $440 UK converted prices.

I'm currently trying to fit 18" rims on an L322 fitted with Brembo calipers.
I find that there are a couple of D4 calipers listed on the spares sites and one of them is also listed for the L322.
Part No: LR047905 Front Brake Caliper (fits following)
Discovery ( 4 ) 5.0 V8 & 3.0 TD 2010 to 2016
Discovery ( 5 ) L462 TRW 19 2017 >>>>
Range Rover L322 5.0 V8 & 3.6 TDV8 2010 to 2012 (This was the period when Land Rover changed calipers from Brembo to house brand, then back to Brembo)
Range Rover Sport 5.0 V8 & 3.0 TD 3.6 TDV8 2010 to 2013
Range Rover L405 2.0 3.0 & 5.0 NA size 19 2013 >>>
Range Rover Sport L494 3.0 size 19 2014 >>>
Excludes Brembo / performance brake option cars
Workshop was reluctant to remove Brembo to fit 18" D4 rims, but maybe now they will feel comfortable chnaging them over so i can have 18" rims.
All I need to find is spacers to make up for the offset.
If the calipers are labelled Brembo then 18" rims are available so no need to change anything. Only those labelled Range Rover which are the 6-piston version do 18" rims not fit unless the rims have much less offset.

Are those available 18" rims LR rims or the aftermarket rims?
I need 6 (2 for travel spares), and am not impressed at paying over $3000 for 6 rims.
The offered rims were for rampant off road "Dakar" type driving, NOT where I might be taking an L322.
I am just after highway (with some unmade roads), level rims, which I reckon D4 rims would fit.
Not sure that the 4mm difference in rim offset would be a problem as 4.4petrol L322's appear to have had same (53) offset on their 18" x75j rims (but 57 on their 8" x18 rims) which suggests some degree of tolerance in offset differences perhaps.
Pity D2 rims have such large stud holes, as D2 V8 18" rims are same specs as L322 18" rims offset and all.
I may just leave the unfortunate 20" rims on, and stock up on spare tyres.
After-market eg Compomotives although the spares could be D3/D4 18" that get fitted to the rear only.
You could try a set of 255/55R20 to get the same sidewall height as 255/55R19 although AT tyre choice is rather limited and relatively expensive when compared with 275/55R20 but at least they fit in the spare wheel well. However 255/55R20 generally have a load index of 111 whereas 275/55R20 are mostly between 113 and 117.
When you say unmade roads, do you mean cross-country or farm tracks or outback roads and tracks? If farm tracks or outback roads/tracks then IMO a real option is D4 19" rims with 255/55R19 as there are several tyres that seem to survive outback travel admirably even though their load rating is commonly 111. I'm not quite sick enough of my over-size 275/55R20 Pirelli AT+ to fit smaller diameter tyres yet but 19" Pirelli AT+ or maybe another brand would be an easy option for me to try. The lesser offset of D4 rims is inconsequential.

For others following this thread, the vehicle is an earlier L322 which can therefore mount the 4.4 petrol L322's caliper brackets and calipers that allow fitment of LR D3/D4/L322 18" rims. The calipers are the same as fitted to D3/D4 with 2.7 TDV6 and 4.4 petrol V8 engines.
