    TDV8 performance restricted message?

I’m after some help, I e just returned from a 500km round trip to pick up a new mower, with a tandem trailer. No problems going down, all good. I loaded up and about 20 min into my drive home I got a red triangle-restricted performance msg, no power, followed by stability control not available, followed by emergency braking to available. I switched off and started up again but got a ‘select ride height msg’ other faults had disappeared.
i went to punch it up an over taking lane and just as it kicked down, error msg appeared again and lost power.. every time I put it under load, same thing. I’m thinking it’s turbo or induction related as I can hear an induction noise on the right hand side of the motor that I haven’t noticed before..
got it home after a slow trip of trying to keep the turbo from spooling up, can’t work out why the suspension msg keeps appearing on startup though..any ideas would be appreciated.
    Its a 2010 3.6td v8

    TDV8 performance restricted message?

Regarding the restricted performance, I had a similar thing with my 3.0 SDV6 D4, also a 2010. Coincided with a weird turbo howl on deceleration on the right hand side.. was the secondary turbo actuator. There are some good posts on the appropriate application of WD40 with the wheels at full lock to the right at off road height. Unfortunately I have no idea if this relates to the tdv8 but I’d start here.

The actuator stuck open. I think the howl was air being pushed back out the intake on that side.

At least in my case it cost about an hour, some WD40 and some skin off my knuckles and wrists as the hose clamp ends are a pain to get to.

I actually squirted WD40 into the housing from the top while the top and bottom hoses we off, then into and around the linkage. Squirt some in, leave for 5 mins, then manually work the actuator and let it out, I did it a few times the bolted it all back up... I still had an amber engine light afterwards but topped up oil and it’s been fine for 20000km.

I hope your fix is as painless as mine

Look for a split in the underside of the hose from the I/C to the throttle body. The other faults may be caused by the lack of engine power so fix that one then see if the others return.

Yes, definitely sounds like a split top intercooler hose. Here’s my thread.

    Tim,
you will need to continue looking for TD6 sympathy issues ... as you should know that LRs have a reputation of having a mind of their own, and it is just reminding you how good its predecessor was!

Once I worked out what the problem was, the shutdown/limp home stuff actually made sense.. at least it kept going and could be reset after each limp mode..
Yes the Td6 was a very reliable and simple vehicle.. but nothing close to the power of the V8

Hi! I have the same problem on my Disco4 2010. Was it definitely caused by a split intercooler? No more problems after that was repaired?
