Front Early L322 arm rests refurbish, any one done theirs?

Has any one recovered /refurbished their door arm rests on the early L322s? There must be many hundreds of collapsed arm rests out there through out the world . I was contemplating a stitched vinyl cover made by a motor trimmer, but the exercise of having to remove the door cards has put me off for the moment. I'm interested if any pics are available. Cheers, Mario

    You are lucky
I have finally been able to get back on this site after a few years
I did the door armrests on my 2003 L322 just before I sold it.
The door crads come of really easy there are videos on Youtube showing how its done.
How to remove the front door card on a Range Rover L322 Vogue - YouTube
Once you have your door card off you will what looks like a few hot melted plastic rivets behind the door armrest.
Best way to remove these is with a finger/power file just file them down smooth.
And there are two nuts thtb hold a steel brace across the back of the armrest that need to be unbolted.
The plastic cover at the front lower armrest just unclips.
Once you have your armrest off the fun begins.
I managed to source a piece of vinyl the correct colour (ivory/sand) from a friendly upholsterer
But first you have to peel the old cover off which is generally well stuck on, perseverance helps here.
My armrest didnt need rebuilding with foam so it was all ok the recover but if yours is bad then now is the time to patch and shape the foam.
To recover we started with the easy parts first, the big bits.
Spray Ados heavy duty (there are otherglues available) onto the areas you want to stick and start to pull the vinyl onto the armrest. It works best if the vinyl is warm so it moulds to the shape.
    Then its the hard bits.
Having cut the vinyl to a semi decent shape you need to progress your way around the edges pulling the vinyl into shape as the glue adheres. Strong arms are very useful here and a few decent spring clamps.
It is just a matter of getting the right shape buy pulling and stretching the vinyl and folding it into the back of the armrest.
We did it over two evenings leaving it to warm in the sun during the day and for the glue to properly cure.
Once you are happy with the armrest it is time to put it back on the door card.
Those plastic rivet you ground down now have to reattach the armrest but how.
I used tek screws and penny washers but you can use whatever works, I only had to plastic melt one of the rivets that covered the door airbag as it was too small to screw into.
Then nput the door card back together and refit to the car.
A lot simpler job than it sounds.
I bought a pair of the armrest covers that are advertised on Ebay Uk, waste of time as it looks like they are designed to just be glued on the top of you existing door armrests. Way to small to fit to removed armrest.
Sorry but only photos I took are of the back of the door card before I removed the armrest and after I removed the armrest so of no real use.

Good luck and have fun with it.

    All done and car sold

I bought a leather colour kit from furniture clinic uk. I will recolour/recoat the interior one day. I’ll do the door cards last probably. They’re not too bad but will look shabby after the seats are done.

Its not fading that is my problem, it's the out of shape arm rests which are made of vinyl and the foam underneath goes and the vinyl gets loose and out of shape. Deflated if you know what I mean.
as in the attached picture from the powerful UK Video clip. It was a recall in the initial days.
