Hi All
Just wondered if anyone can help out there.
Recently, whenever my A/C is on for a prolonged time, I get a load squealing sound from the engine bay, I turn the a/c off and it stops, also around the same time a loud grinding sound will start, but stops if I turn the a/c off. It does not blow cold any more, it was regassed in august17, but the car has only been used since then for approx 5000 ks. it cant cope with a really hot day and starts to blow warm if I try and turn the a/c any higher than two clicks on the a/c knob.
Cheers Paul.

Hi
Brummy
Just a thought
Check the clutch on the A/C Compressor, sounds like it might be slipping/stuck; hence the higher noise and the poor cooling performance.

Waiting for a second hand pump from the UK to arrive $130 landed, seems reasonable, its done 50,000
A question, would the worn out pump make any noise or vibration.?
When I start up in the morning there is some rumbling untill it warms up.
Cheers Paul.
Unit arrived today from UK ,5 days from purchase, looks and feels OK.
Whats involved with fitting ? cant find anything on Youtube
Cheers Paul.
HI Paul ,re fitting part , unbolting hoses and the unit from it's holder is the easy part but it is illegal to discharge refrigerant into the atmosphere heavy fines! so it is probably best you take it to an Air con service place and have them evacuate the system, then they can fit it and re gas it after fitting and test for leaks.
Regards,
Heather
I would have replaced the bearing and clutch on the front of the compressor as these fail often on other vehicles.
Yes would hav been the option to investigate the original problem further, and if it wss just the clutch, then , since O.P now has a donor compressor could do an insitu clutch componantt swap and not have disconnet piping and use the existing pump maybe. It depends on his skill or lack of mechanical skills.
