4.4 TDV8 oil leaks

That's not the 4.4 engine.

The leak from either the o-rings at the back of the cooler or from cooler gaskets only makes for an increasing mess although if enough oil gets onto the exhaust then there could be a fire risk.

Leaking o-rings precedes leaking gaskets but the o-rings can be changed quite easily and quickly providing only the o-rings are changed, noting that LR only supply the whole pipe which is not a quick job to replace. Don't let anyone change the pipe just because LR don't supply the o-rings, instead order 2 Viton o-rings yourself from a bearing supplier to be sure that normal o-rings aren't used.

I had a small oil leak whiilst under warranty - ended up being a cracked (plastic) engine cover. Took Solitare two goes to get it wright. If it wasn't covered by warranty I would not have bothered. They had to remove the fuel line (which means replacing them).

Peter Brown might be slow at times but is very competent, the Dealer however is just in........

Hopefully it's O' ring but I'm not sure whether this post was in relation to L494 engines or older?

It was a good move to have the inlet manifold replaced as it would have become worse and eventually caused restricted performance due to loss of pressure. I'm hoping that mine has the only later version of the manifolds that were fitted to the first L405 4.4SDV8.

I have a 2106 SDV8 that is showing a smear of oil on the rear front bash plate. Can't find out where the leak is coming from at present, have taken the valley cover off but the plumbing gets in the way. Will pull sump guard off (Bash Plate) and try and determine if the leak is local or coming down from the top. Hoping not a turbo leak although I think I would smell burning oil if it was. Wondering if Graeme's post is current for the later 4.4 ?

If the short wiring harness for the oil sensor harness hasn't yet been fitted then oil could have migrated from the sump to the turbo's electronics from where it will exit, but hopefully not.
