Morey's?
Can anyone tell me with certainty if the BMW L322 TD6 diesel engine has Silver in the bearing composition, as i wish to put Moorey's oil additive into the engine at the next oil change. I have used it in all of my previous engines, gearboxes and diffs with no issues and long term realiability seems increased but i am not sure with this engine. The BMW TD6 is very noisy at startup i believe due to inherent hydraulic lifter issues the lifters quieten down after a short period of driving but i believe if i can run Moorey's it will belp at startup all opinions would be welcomed.

Seen the oil spec for that engine?
Seen how ‘thin’ it is?
Do you really believe dumping in some heavy weight oil is going to do it good?
Regular servicing and quality oil = longevity.
Not Moreys or any other heavy weight oil.
I'm going to try and not come across as a know it all dick, but why in the name of science do you think you can formulate a better lubricant than a boffin in a white lab coat with a Masters degree by tipping a heavy bright stock base oil with bugger all else in it into a fully formulated oil?
All the while diluting the important additive package at the same time?
This has come up in the past, Morey's, STP et al are just high molecular weight oilswithout any important additives in them, and are ridiculously heavy/thick/viscous
There is nothing special about them other than they lighten your wallet.

Please don't, not into a nice engine, it really won't help anything.
What oil you currently running and how many KM does the engine have on it? The BMW M57 engine should be running a synthetic oil - it's quite light as well - as others have suggested DO NOT put thick sludge in it in an attempt to quieten it down - you will kill it much quicker. Modern engines just aren't designed for heavier weight oils and you'll only be thickening what's already in there.
Your engine, but I'd be quite alarmed if anyone tried it in mine. The M57 is a strong, long lived engine - just do the right thing by it and change the oil & filter every 7,500KM with a QUALITY oil that meets the OEM spec and a decent filter, not a no name fleybay job and it will live for 500,000KM without too many issues.

True , I don't use it in Val's Renault Kaptur , but yep in it goes in my 2013 Iveco 4x4 . Both the Oil Stabiliser & DSK .
