    DAB+ Digital Radio for 2005-2009 L322

Almost... it works, but not 100% perfect, yet...

There was no DAB available for the 2005-2009 L322, same as the L319/L320.
However the North American cars had SDARS / SAT-Radio, better known as Sirius.
So Mobridge has a DAB+ module which emulates the SAT-Radio, that you can have DAB+ controlled by the factory sound system.

Until now they had never tested their unit in an L322, only the L319/L320. It works though, but needs some software tweaks to finish it off.

So you can get DAB+ stations through the factory audio/touchscreen, via the SAT menu, using this module.

    With the current available software in the MOST-DAB module, there are some limitations;

    1. You don't see a full/complete channel list, you can only scroll through the channels using the >> and << buttons on the screen, or steering wheel buttons

    2. The saved/preset stations aren't available.

    3. You can only make the tuning / initial scan via the DAB Basic App, on a PC, connected to the module via USB, with it in the car.

Once you have scanned though, it doesn't need to be reconnected to the PC, unless new stations come online and you want to add them by doing a new scan, or you go to another city.

As there was no DAB available in the 2005-2009 models, the factory antenna doesn't work out, but good quality aftermarket antennas from Alpine or Clarion are fine (don't get the $10 eBay specials, ask me how I know!)

Hopefully Mobridge will have an L322 available locally in Melbourne sometime soon and they can look at the software tweaks needed to get it finalised.

    Any Melbourne owners interested?

The above pics are of my L322. The digital sound is very very nice and now my first choice before FM, and I have the povo pack sound system. I am currently using the factory antenna, which drops out fairly regularly. I will hopefully fit the aftermarket antenna this weekend.

The screen integration with this system is very good. The dash button is used to skip between preprogrammed stations. Steering wheel volume controls work perfectly but the station skip button doesn’t work for some reason.

Cameron has developed a semi plug and play kit which is quite easy to physically fit. With some further software development by Mobridge it should be a fully plug and play system. Overall an excellent upgrade.

    Combo,

Where did you install the unit? I just bought one of these, and connected it by the Telephone module on top of the module-stack.
I cannot however seem to find it on the headunit, nor can I connect via til PC-app.
Must Sat-Radio be activated by code to enable it?

We had to enable the SAT Radio option in the CCF.

It's also necessary to connect the module to the MOST network while you are connected by usb to the laptop. With the MOST cable unplugged it wouldn't show on the Mobridge applications on the laptop.

I've just gotten the IID Tool BT in-house, and activated the SAT-Radio feature.
Since the radio stations are pretty much the same regardless of location here in Norway, the lacking scan function is not a dealbreaker, just annoying.
Aspecially if you are into commercial local radiostations, and travel a lot between cities.

The audio is crystal clear (as clear as a stations bitrate allows anyway), and reception is great. I'm using a $50 active window antenna, positioned in the upper, rear corner of the rear, left window.

You can see the "Scan" and "Reset" function in the Settings menu, but unable to initiate either. I assume this is due to the lack of certain physical buttons which the Sport and Discovery models have.

mObridge should've added BT-functionality to the unit, and thus allowing both streaming and Scan/Reset from a cellphone app.

Edit: I see you mention being able to change channels via the steering wheel buttons. I can't seem to do this. It only highlights the first of the six squares, and not much else. Using the >> << buttons on the headunit changes the channel. Any thoughts on what could be the cause of such an issue?

Any ideas on how to get USb option into pre 2010 L322

I'm trying to find a way to connect my Ipod to the sound system in L322 2008.
I play audio books on long trips and I use my Ipod for that.
Is there any known harness or connection option, add on, that might enable me to connect an Ipod to the existing system?

Otherwise, if I remove the sytem to get a newer audio player option installed, do I also lose the power amp part of the system, and also the wheel controls, or is there a way around that also?
Has anybody else fitted a later audio unit into replace the usual system?
Would a system from a later L322 go into an earlier model (assuming that they had USB option in later L322's).
