$275 sounds about right for just the maps which are likely to be years out of date and $200 the labour to update the HD with the maps. Apparently it takes a long time to transfer the map file onto the HD.
I started looking into the Firewire connection quite some time ago but its a very low priority project mostly due to my feeling that it wont be worth the cost especially if an update for a later vehicle can't be made to work, but I want to see how far I can get at minimal cost. If I could get hold of even an outdated map for a current USB-connected L405/L494/MY12+ D4 system then I'd push ahead with some other hardware purchases.
