    TDV8 3.6 EGR faults.

I’ve had emulators fitted for about 3 years, which have been good. I’m recently getting an EGR related fault coming up. Does anyone know a cause?

    First this fault:
P0406-22 (2F) Exhaust gas recirculation sensor A circuit high - General signal failure - signal amplitude>maximum

Then after I swapped around the Emulators, this fault:
    P140B-22 (2E) Exhaust gas recirculation sensor C - circuit high - General signal failure - signal amplitude>maximum

    Thanks

Seeing you have had emulators fitted for the last 2 years without problems; could it be as simple as a bad earth, chaffed wire or bad connection ? I take it you cleaned your sensors ?

    TDV8 3.6 EGR faults.

    Gday Laurie

As the EGRs have been closed for a couple of years, I suspect there is a build up of soot behind the EGR valve face or around a sensor before the valve. I need a couple of hours straight on a weekend to pull the pollen filter housing out to see what’s behind there (a rare occurrence). I wouldn’t mind unbolting/blanking the whole EGR setup including the coolant pipes.

Does the fault return to the original if you swap the emulators back to where they were? Even that the fault changed "sensors" when the emulators were swapped suggests that one of the emulators or its wiring has developed a fault.

The only sensors for EGR valves appear to be the position sensors within the EGR motor mechanisms. Behind the EGR valves are only the exhaust manifold connections and EGR coolant hoses. The exhaust connection is a 2-bolt flange joint.

Thanks Graeme. Yes I’d thought about changing them back but not got there yet. I will do that first.

I couldn’t see any sensors in the workshop manual, but the IID tool is reading a fault from a couple of sensors somewhere.

The IIDtool can't tell that the emulators aren't the real EGR valve motors and sensors.

Thanks Graeme. Maybe I’ll try to unplug one emulator at a time to see what happens. If the fault is replaced by “lost communication” or another similar type fault it might indicate emulator fault.

    HELLO RAR110,

How have you progressed this fault? Any solution?

    Chilly
