    Gearbox Fault

I got a gearbox fault warning with Low power restriction this morning.

It cleared via restart, and hasn't reappeared since as I ran my errands around town this morning. I don't yet have a fault reader but was wondering if there was any likely causes, and whether serious or not.

I had just started driving for the day - maybe 10 mins into journey at 80km/h on freeway and car was not fully warmed up yet.

I do normally let it warm up on the drive when I can - had no time today as overslept!

    - 2010 TDV8 Luxury with approx 175k kms.
    - Fully serviced.
    - Gearbox oil and filter change at purchase almost 3 years ago - I was told the oil was perfectly clear and no sludge
    - The car had never towed as best I can tell as I had tow electrics fitted at purchase 3 years ago.
    - a couple of months ago I bought a jetski with non-braked trailer which I have towed 6 or so times.
    - was not towing this morning, and only me in the car.

Gearbox faults can occur if the engine doesn't provide the expected torque with the restricted performance condition a clue. Reading engine and gearbox codes can be informative.

Many Thanks Graeme.. Seems like you were on the correct line of thinking RE Torque.

Appears to be the High Pressure Fuel Pump.
