Td6 in tank fuel pump fittings broken

    Hi Guys,

I just removed the dead in-tank pump from my Td6. Discovered that the plastic connectors for hoses going to LH side tank pick-up have been partially broken off (see pic).

Now wondering whether the fuel pump is actually ok and this was cause of my problems. Any suggestions gratefully received as I'm not even certain whether this part can be replaced.

Given this and a few other bodges I have come across indicate a full service history at the dealership doesn't count for much!

    Cheers, Charles

Have installed new pump using the broken connectors and seems to be running ok.

I assume the 2 hoses and wires run down to the LH pick-up. I have looked at WSM but it doesn't really give a lot of detail about how that is put together. My preference would be to replace the broken parts if possible.

    Cheers, Charles

Charles, if you can find the broken bits you might be able to glue them back and reinforce the out side with that rapidfix superglue and powder

The fittings aren't spare parts but the set of 3 top section tubes has a part number of WJP00530 which ex UK are just over 200GBP plus freight and probably GST. You might want to try getting a set from a wreck if they're not also brittle, noting that the tubes for the other engines are different.

Hi Mario, Good idea. In my case I think the plastic is far too brittle to try bonding broken pieces back on and would require assembly to be removed from tank to be done properly. I must admit to being very surprised at how brittle the plastic in tank components have become.

    Hi Graeme,

Thank you for the information - much appreciated. Just have to work out how exactly to remove and replace the assembly

I have tried searching that part number with no success - can you point me in right direction?

    Cheers, Charles

    Update

I thought I would give an update on the broken fitting situation. It appears to have zero impact on internal fuel pump operation. I have run the car through multiple tanks of fuel, and gone to less than 10km range remaining on 2 occasions with no issues. Therefore, I will leave them as is. Cheers, Charles.
