    4.4 TDV8 ??

    Gday All,

Been reading thru the threads about the 4.4 TDV8 and see they had a secondary turbo drain issue and a few other issues in the early versions , it seems to read that they sorted these out in the later released ones, so what year would be the best year to look at in the 4.4 TDV8 model , and I know lowest kms is always best , but what is a ball park figure of low , medium and high Kms for this engine .

    Thanks and Cheers Ean

I saw that a MY14 4.4TDV8 L405 was fitted with the factory twin drain, which is different to the retro-fitted twin drains. MY13 did not have the twin drain.

Thanks Graeme , so does that imply that all the L322 have the single drain and seem to be ok , just need a good plant of the loud pedal regularly to clean out any build up ?

    Cheers Ean

    Gday Graeme
Does the MY14 variation solve the turbo drain issue, of the L322 version?

    Thanks.

The 2014 twin drain does the same job as the retro-fitted twin drain but instead of attaching to a stub that is inserted into the block of the earlier engines, the factory version has a pipe with an o-ring that fits into the block and held there with a 1-bolt bracket.
The drain in the picture is being transferred from a dead motor to a new one. The dead motor was the result of engine runaway from a failed primary turbo providing oil into the air intake.
