19 inch road tyre choice for L322 TDV8?

Hi All, will be collecting my '09 3.6 TDV8 in a few days, which is a lovely car but I'm not a fan of the well worn Kumho's currently on the car. It will be nearly 100% on the tarmac - and sorry if you are offended by that - I'd like to put the best possible tyres on. I've seen Continental, Michelin, Pirelli and Dunlop all make a road tyre in the correct 255/55/19 size. Any recommendations?

Indeed, I was surprised not to find any recent threads for 19 inch road tyres, otherwise I would not have done the post... (or perhaps being a newbie I wasn't searching correctly)

Brisvegas, I'm in Brisbane and sold my L322 last year and have the factory tow hitch in my garage gathering dust (it doesn't fit my new RR). reach out via PM if you want it. cheers! Chris

+1 for the Scorpion ATRs. Was worried that they might be noisy on the tar, but I don’t notice any difference from the original Conti’s. Nice aggressive tread and tougher sidewalls - a perfect compromise between on and off road.

I suspect that you meant AT+ as the ATR was the earlier pattern which isn't at all aggressive and would be quite old stock these days if there are any still available.

I like my 20" except that I'd prefer the smaller 31" 255/60R19 if only Pirelli would make them especially in the same LI 113 that Pirelli have for their on-road tyre for the L405/L494/L462. It appeared that they were planned having issued a stock number for it but that was too long ago now.

I have had the TDV8 for a week now and am absolutely loving it as my daily driver. It's both completely extravagant and completely purposeful, which in my experience is a rare sweet spot not often found on 4 wheels.

So back onto the tyres - after briefly flirting with the idea of going up to 20 inch, I'm going to stick with the 19's as the preferred handling / ride compromise, and now with more tyre choice than when the cars were released.

For my road use I have narrowed it down to 4 choices all in the $300-$350 range: Michelin Latitude Tour HP; Continental Ultracontact UC6 SUV, Yokohama Geolander XCV G057; Pirelli Scorpion Zero. I have seen recommendations on all of them, aligned to my intended use so might end up having to flip coins to decide what to go with. If you should happen to have strong opinions one way or the other please shout!
