They are the wires going to the steering column height motor.
Have a look at the rotary coupler connections, it appears to be the only common component.

I need the electrical guru so hope he (or she) is reading.
I have had the steering column out of my 2003 L322 and am now fully functional on removing/replacing dashboard fascia panel etc.
However now that all is back in I do not have any functions working from steering wheel buttons.
I removed the airbag assembly again from steering wheel and all connections are good.
I have once again removed fascia panel to check if anything has been left unplugged but all looks ok.
There is a two wire black plug both at top )1 blue and 1 black with blue stripe) and bottom of column (1 black and 1 blue) that appears to have never been used as it is taped out of the way at steering wheel end so I seriously doubt this has anything to do with it.
Besides given that I have both radio and cruise control buttons I envisage a number of wires being needed to do all of those functions but as stated all appears ok.
I am now wondering if there is a computer for these functions so whilst awaiting the guru I will do more study.

The wires going to column height motor are actually a Brown, Red, Blue with black stripe.
From that you will see that the motor connection is a 3 wire plug and not a two wire plug that seems to be spare on this car.
I thank you for sending those 2 diagrams.
I will print in colour tomorrow and follow them through.
A mystery right now but a challenge.
What interests me is how you are getting diagrams with colour.
I have the Electrical Manual for L322 from 2002 to 2005 and all diagrams have no colour.
Are you colouring the wiring diagrams by PC?
What program do you use if so?
I'll check my manual again tomorrow. I have a genuine RAVE CD with the L322 manuals. The circuit diagrams are in colour.

P38arover:
Thanks for the additional info.
I figured that was the difference but nice to get my thoughts confirmed.
It does seem that the Rave manuals would be a greater help to me than the printed manuals that I purchased a long time back.
What I have does have small photos of connections (very small) and monochrome everything.
Print is very poor and almost unreadable so I need the Rave info but not having much luck with downloads.
I will keep trying.
I could not find the CD for sale anywhere.
As for the issues with my car:
I cleaned all connections with contact cleaner today but still the same.
I do not have a colour printer but will get circuits etc that you and Roverlord sent printed at Officeworks and go from there.
IN the meantime I focused on suspension bushing replacements today so back to electrical tomorrow.,
My work on the steering column electrics is now on hold until I get the RAVE manuals.
Having purchased hard copy Land Rover Workshop and Electrical manuals back when I got the car in 2004 I thought I had the bees knees although they are not real good but as they were genuine I thought the best available.
Now after seeing what other subscribers can provide from RAVE info I wonder how I have managed for all these years.
When I get the RAVE manuals set up on my PC I will probably use what I have to light the fire. There really is no comparison.
Thanks to subscribers who have alerted me to this far better information.
