    no key turn

Had a flat battery on the Rangie as it's been parked for months. I recharged the battery and tried to start it, put the key into ignition and no usual click sound and key would not turn at all, I disconnected the battery and did a hard reset. Connected battery and got it started once. Then pulled ket out and no start again. Looks like I have the dreaded ignition solenoid problem I've heard about. i did IDtool it whilst it was running and it did mention something about solenoid magnet fault If I recall.
I Googled a vid about removing the top part of the steering column without having to remove the whole assembly, drilling a hole at the casing where the solenoid sits to lubricate it. Being a bit physically challenged I'll have to wait until after lock down finishes before I can get assistance from a mate. As I no longer drive there isn't a real hurry.

Will try that but if a key is not synched then surely the remote unlock would not work? Mine does. Will try Synching but you need te key to turn to 1 notch then withdraw it to start the sych procedure, so will see it pulling fuse 18 allows power to turn the key to the 1st notch.

If you already have the shroud off the steering column, I'd tap it with a hammer a few times to see if you can get it unstuck.

If you can, then get a steering lock simulator (gold card) and put it in. That will bypass the steering lock permanently.

Mine done the same thing after sitting for a few days . Turned out to be the motor in the steering lock , cleaned it and works perfectly now. Happy to sort it for you once this STAY HOME is over.

thanks for the offer PAS. I managed to get it fixed??
I pulled the number 18 fuse three times and clicking of the solenoids were heard, after that it seems to work.
all up took me 5 mins to get into the passenger seat, then 10 mins to pull the fuse ans re insert it. got frustrated as my hand trembles and no precision guiding the fuse back in, 2 hands and a fuse holder eventually did the job. all up 1hour and it took a lot out of me physically, but at least I had the satisfaction that I did it.

these were errors i got. from iidtool bt

    SCLM-Steering Lock

    0x1B Securing magnet fault

    0x17 Locking operation error

Nice. I suggest getting a gold card device to stop a future failure and thanks for reminding me I need a fuse tool!!
