    Inlet manifold

    Hi all,

Has anyone removed inlet manifold to replace the seal to fix a coolant leak.

Also has some lack of power while going up slight hill, and losing coolant on long journeys.

It seems that is what l am experiencing at moment.

Online research points to the fact that inlet manifold can act as a coolant retaining.

Can l get the inlet manifold seal kit in Australia?

Has anyone gone to effort of blanking the swirl flap under the manifold?

    Cheers,
    Jason

    bring on the haters

I had some small leaks in my L322 V8 and going through everything to find the leaks was APITA!!! It was leaking tinny amounts from just about every connection.

I ended up putting a bottle of Penrite Radiator Stop Leak in and that sorted my issues. No more coolant leaks. And it has had no detrimental effects that I can see and that was 40K km ago.

It's been few years that I did mine.
I cant see where coolant could be trapped as your coolant hoses connect under the passenger edge of the manifold.
I dont recall there being swirl flaps on the engines in the Range Rover, I believe they are only on BMW vehicles with this engine.

Gaskets are purchased individually they are only square rubber seals and a a round rubber insolaters, they dont come in kit persay
If you cant source them let me know.

Hi Jason , I can't tell much from the pics , but I have had to replace the coolant elbow on a couple of L322's as they crumble around the seal . BMW part number is 11127806196 .
The intake does have to come off for access but it isn't a difficult job.

Cheers for that, l going to need both elbow and manifold seal kit for this job.

Do you suspect, like l do, that the leak is the elbow as it drips beyond the elbow.
Can take more pictures to a more definitive result of the problem.
    Thanks

    Thanks for sharing.

one thing to add there are those orange rubber and steel isolators at where the bottom bolts go through, they can become dislodged when removing and fitting, so care is needed.

When l removed my manifold and did an egr delete, l took the opportunity to wash solvent through the manifold to remove the oil and carbon residue from it. You'd be surprised how filthy they get inside.
