    Nice!

It looks photoshopped in all those images...so nice it actually fits.

The top of it looks a bit high though, on mine I drilled a new set of holes for the screws on the screen (while the stock holes lined up for the unit to mount in the frame it sat too high, leaves a gap at the bottom on the front and causes the top of the screen to be hard to press as it's right up under the dash)...

This is the approximate top line of mine... I drilled new holes almost directly below the existing ones and had to cut the frame a little more..

Ahh good point, I need to refit the dash top still so ill see how it goes tomorrow. The PO had already been in there and cut the frame to buggery so its a little crooked already. When i bought it, i ripped out miles of terrible audio wiring and had to trace and repair lots of cuts. Killer.

Top back on, fits well. Also installed the USB and AUX into the cig socket. Have another twin USB (power only) coming for inside the armrest on the slowboat from china

Wanting to fit a gauge into where the clock lives, looks a bit off 52mm standard side + there is a lip inside so i think ill need to dremel it out a bit. Probably dual temp, trans and water. Either that or install a faceplate and have a GME radio bulkhead plug for the radio handpiece.

Anyone fitted a gauge in there before?

    looks nice.

Q: does yours have the optical connector?

I've seen 2 very different looking units available - 1 has a single DIN and the other (more expensive) is rather flat on the back. from the pics I'm guessing NUTTTR has the single DIN and irubix has the later flatter unit?? Some of them are specifically labelled as 2005-2012, the add always says 2002-2012 but in the photos there is sometimes a sticker visible on the unit.

I'm not sure when they changed to what? ie anyone know whats different between irubix 2005 and MY07?

wanting to install one but I've not seen anyone with a 2006-2009 do it. Heaps (including me) done early model

Yep, all fibre connections + has a flat back so not a DIN type with the long back.

My 2005 is the year when they were still M62/BMW era, but with all the ford entertainment.

When i was installing it, i was speaking to the seller as it wouldn't power on. I could jump 12v to the CAN connection and it would start, but for some reason it wasn't getting power normally. The guy said the power on is CAN controlled, so the CAN interceptor that comes with it does a fair bit of talking with the car for control. I was just going to patch in ACC power to the CAN 12v signal and was advised against it. Ended up being a loose wire in the connector so no changes required.

The car data control app thing is pretty bad, but you can reset fuel mileage in there and thats all i really care about.

Im going to get ibus/rasler connection at some stage, but thats for future me. The IIDtool software is installed on it and works great for monitoring things i need.

Its absolutely possible to do with the 2005+ era cars as I've just done it, and you dont need to run any wires, its all just plugged in up the front, remove the CD player, screen and radio receiver behind the screen and loop the fibre connectors and you're done basically.

its the first unit from China that i have seen that has all the bits to get it working. Seller is super helpful as well.
