    Steering rack

    Hello

After information about weather the left hand drive steering rack will fit onto right hand drive Range Rover here in Australia.

    Cheers

They are different part numbers, the obvious difference is the steering box where the steering shaft connects to will be on the wrong side,

My steering rack is getting pretty loose too.

I'm wondering if a BMW X5 would fit? They look the same and a bit cheaper and more readily available.

Be careful as later model Land Rovers have the steering rack coded to the VIN of the car. Can only be replaced by a dealer with new original.
I know this applies to Freelander 2 and later. Good reason not to buy Freelander 2, Discovery Sport etc.

Have been told by my LR service place, that there is somebody in Perth (I am in WA), doing rack reconditioning, perhaps there are similar services in other states.
