    " Adaptive Dynamics" fault

I got the " Adaptive Dynamics" fault a few days ago, IID tool said it was left front ! I was pretty sure it was the typical broken wire at the shock mount. I opened the cap, but couldn't find the problem, I did notice that it had been repaired previously. Today I finally had enough time to properly look for the problem, after 2 failed attempts. By accident I was removing the electrical tape over the previously repaired spot (looking for bad join), when 1 x wire slipped out of the harness sheath about 3" above the repair. As can be seen, the break is a cut, and a similar problem was developing on the opposite wire at the exact same position. I repaired both, now no faults on the dash. So if you run into this problem; it mightn't be near the plug, but further up inside the sheath!

Are you aware that LR produce a repair kit that has thicker wires? My MY12 was built with the thicker wires but I've unplugged the fastener on each cable to provide more gentle movement to hopefully prevent even the thicker wires from breaking.

The angle at which the wires protrude needs to be such that when the steering is centred that the wires are in the centre of their free travel. I've set mine at about 45 deg.

Thanks Graeme for the info on the wires free travel, I didn't realise that was a factor ! I only thought it was an unsuitable gauge/type of wire that has caused the problem. A quick check found the repair kit ; this was the cheapest,

I hate to think of the cost here. Unless it breaks at the plug, I will replace the wires again' looking at that cost.

I couldn't see myself purchasing the repair kit as I'm sure that I could get the terminals out of the shell to replace the wires.
