    Limited fuel range.

I have the well known issue of running out of fuel at quarter of a tank.
Research leads me to replacement of the in tank pump. Can anyone tell me if there is a reliable substitute for the horrendously expensive Bosch unit, please?

I'm surprised there wasn't one in a carton in the back.

It was probably in the shed down the back and got washed away

Lots of other interesting bits and pieces to suit, but alas, no fuel pump.

Is the motor replaceable ? On my old D2 I just replaced the motor with a genuine Bosch one, it was gamble, but was still going 2 years later when I sold it !

I’ll check RAVE but I recall something about the fuel gauge will read incorrectly (when reconnected) if not disconnected correctly.

The computer remembers it's last reading. If disconnecting the sender and draining the tank, the same amount of fuel has to be replaced, before reconnection.

Perhaps therein lies your problem. Although I imagine the previous owner would have known all about that.
