power steering and the door locks

    2005 L322 M62
I have a problem with the power steering and the door locks
These problems are getting worse, a month ago they only played up occasionally but now it’s all the time
I thought it might be the battery, so I have replaced the battery, on start up the voltage is 14.3 immediately, for a week everything worked fine, yesterday, back to worse than normal
Yesterday I was driving with no power steering,
today I started it and the power steering worked straight away
    First the door locks
When I first bought this vehicle, I locked the doors and then couldn’t open them, as luck had it my son managed to open it
I took the drivers door apart and found a broken metal part, I made a new part out of steel and put it back together
When I first tried to lock it, windows started to fly up and down, the sunroof flue open and closed and things were happening faster than I could see.
After locking it and unlocking it a few times, everything settled down and things worked, as what I think is ok.
If the windows are down, locking the doors doesn’t close the windows?????
I then got a remote, and that worked fine now for about three years
This morning, I can only open the two front doors and the tail gate
I cannot open the two rear doors and the petrol cap
I had to clime in to open the rear doors but still no petrol cap
    The power steering
The power steering has worked fine and only sometimes not worked
If I doesn’t work, I just turn the engine off, remove the key and start the engine again and this used to fix it, now it doesn’t
Having finished writing this, I went out and started the car and every thing is working fine, door locks, power steering, what can I say
    Tomorrow is another day

    Petrol Cap .....
Inside the right rear inner guard (inside vehicle), under the plastic covers you will find a toggle for fuel cap release.

Maybe the locks are failing. I've replaced three of mine this year.

If the power steering is involved then it's most likely an issue with the BECM, it lives under the passenger seat and can be lifted up and out and disconnected from behind the seat. Could just be bad/dirty/corroded connectors, give them a clean and see how it goes.
