L322 rack seal on column shaft

Has anyone replaced the seal on the column shaft? No genuine part is listed in Microcat.

    Not me.

I’ve never looked at it. Maybe a power steering service mob?

I found an ebay seller of rack seals who has identified the necessary seal from the ZF part number for the rack. It looks as though it's nothing special that couldn't be purchased from a local bearing supplier but having the correct seal on hand avoids having no transport while I wait for the correct seal or reconditioned rack then having to get someone to deliver it. I'll post the seal number when it arrives then hopefully later confirm that it fits.
I found an overhaul document for a couple of similar ZF racks which shows the input shaft bearing and seal components.

The seal is a standard 20x30x5 double-lip, pressed into a plate retained by a circlip. I used hydraulic pressure to move the plate partly out, presumably stopping when the o-ring around the plate got as far as the circlip groove. The plate was removed using a small pick between the shaft and the plate, successively lifting one side then the other.
The shaft is covered by a plastic alignment cap without any useful dust ingress prevention. It was refitted with layers of felt that may or may not help. The seal plate provides a well that had accumulated dust/mud so perhaps less dust will now get in.

Contrary what is stated in the workshop manual, the steering pump can easily be removed without disconnecting the nearby a/c pipe. The pump removal was indirectly related to replacing the seal (my error).
