Adaptive Cruise Control - Distance to next vehicle

    Hi,
I recently sold my Classic and upgraded to a 2011 TDV8 Autobiography - it's an amazing vehicle and I'm lucky enough to have ACC from factory.
Only issue is it seems to be stuck on 1 second interval regardless of setting / number of chevrons and this is a bit close at 110kph.

Is this a user error or a known issue? (I've searched around and not found anything)

Attached a screen grab from the brochure showing min-max distances

    Thanks,
    rob

It isn't a common fault, indeed the first one that I've read of.

If it always starts on 1 or you see it immediately change from 3 to 1 when ACC is enabled then either the top switch could be stuck on or the clockspring could be faulty.

Thanks for the response Graeme, but I've not explained the issue properly.

    - ACC turns on showing 3 chevrons as expected
    - The relevant switches add/remove chevrons on the display
    - No matter how many chevrons are showing on the display the distance to the car in front is just over 1 second
    - When the ACC is locked on to the car in front the distance does not change inline with display or adding / removing distance with the switches

Is this something that can be tweaked with the IIDTool?

    Cheers,

    rob

Mine will virtually instantly reduce the speed to increase the gap if the increase gap switch is used.

I wonder if your radar unit is pointing very low to the ground, not being able to detect the vehicle ahead until up very close. You'll have to remove the bumper to check it. I retrofitted ACC so had to aim the radar unit by best guess horizonal and straight ahead and it's almost perfect, so you might do the same if it's obviously not straight ahead.

    Thanks Graeme,
I'll have a look next time the bumper is off.

Quick update - I finally go around to pulling the front bumper and the angle looks OK to me - perpendicular to the line of travel with the car level, picture attached.

Does anyone know if there is a setting accessible with the GAP IIDTool that can change the value of the distance? Can't think of any other next steps...

    Not that I've encountered.
You might want to check if your ecm s/w is up-to-date in case there was a bug in an early version.
