    Traxide setup for solar panel

I have the DT90 Traxide dual battery setup with 2nd battery in the rear, I have a solar panel on the roof rack through a solar regulator charging the 2nd battery but once the 2nd battery is fully charged, the traxide doesn’t seem to start charging the start battery, I’m going overseas for 3 weeks in a couple of months and am going to storage park car in uncovered area so solar can keep batteries especially start battery fully charged for my return, Tim from Traxide said for jump starting to do the following “Run a cable from the point where the Traxide cable bolts to the centre of the L322s fuse panel to the Auxiliary Battery's Positive ( + ) terminal and then fit the Marine Battery Switch into this new cable” If when I park I switch it over to link both batteries will this keep the start battery fully charged via solar. The photo is my battery monitor have had car out on driveway and as you can see Aux battery is charging and at 100% but main battery is not charging and at 34%.

Hi Mjak42, there is something wrong with that setup.

At 14.49v, your Traxide isolator should have turned on and both batteries should be charging.

Can you start your motor to check that your Traxide isolator isolator is working.

Make sure the auxiliary battery has the same voltage as the cranking battery while the motor is running.

To do this, with the motor running, measure the voltage at the auxiliary battery terminals, and the measure the voltage at the stud in the middle of the fuse panel and an earth point, not the auxiliary battery's negative ( - ) terminal.

    Hi Tim,
Checked both batteries before starting, start 11.9v aux 14.9 after starting car, start 14.4 aux 13.7 checked with multimeter, which is pretty close to my battery monitor (photo) I also have 4.4 amps coming in from solar

OK now check the voltage on both studs on the circuit breaker.

They should be the same voltage.

Yep, in the small black box, on the cable running from the Traxide isolator to the Auxiliary Battery.

Hi Tim, appears fuse has blown, I’ll change it over tomorrow been 35 plus degrees here today, 19 tomorrow, I can’t get to the fuse box easily, so I’ll take it all apart tomorrow and put that box where I can get to it easily, cheers Mike

It is extremely unusual to blow that fuse, so I would have a good look around your setup and make sure everything is as it should be.

Also, phone me if you need additional help!
