Absolutely. Glad you did.

Thanks Charles,
Interesting re your TD6, I suspect the V8 should be similar.
Haven't thought about code readers yet, only had the vehicle for a month.
I don't know if removing the screen unit to fit the Kenwood would have changed something.
I remember a lot of head scratching when I had the D2 TD5 most code readers didn't work. Ended up with a Nanocom.
I learned to check for dirty connectors and earth points with the D2,
Probably end up with a Gap tool I'll do some reading.
Cheers, Terry
My car does the same.
Max torque on the M62 engine isn't till 3900 so she will happily drop gears to get up there. I know it does get a little annoying on the highway when just a slight rise will have it dropping a gear with a hill dropping back to 3rd and reving its titties off. If it gets on my goat too much i'll manually select 5th gear on the highway improving it somewhat. In manual 5th it will still drop down to lower gears if it really needs too.
I usually don't worry about it too much as the higher revs are easier on the transmission and with these we must look after our transmissions. For piece of mind service your tranny if you haven't already.
The engine and trans in these run very hot and with your scanner I recommend you don't look at the engine and trans temps, it will just upset you.
Thats great news, thank you. I was just comparing with the P38 4.6.
Interesting difference with Charles' TD6, different torque curve I suppose.
I know it runs hot, I have a habit of opening the bonnet after a run, got a blast of hot air the first time.
No wonder they put the ecu's into a cool box.
Previous owner did an auto service 6 months ago. showed me the receipt for the eye watering cost of just the oil.:(
Thanks, I'll look for something else to worry about.
