    Brakepad sensors

Well today the Rangy went in for her 40k service but she went in on a flat bed. The reason is on the weekend I noticed a not so nice noise from the front left wheel, the culprit is the outter front left pad is worn down to a finger nail thickness and the inner pad is about 2 mm.
Upon phoning LR their reasoning for the failure of the brake pad sensor is it is only attached to one pad, I took a photo clearly showing the 2mm pad connected to the sensor lead he said he couldn't give an answer on what is the minimum before the light/warning is sounded.
This will give them something to stew over while it is being serviced and a couple of minor warranty issues are rectified.
So as usual don't rely on gadgetry, mark one eyebal best there is.

Just had my check brake pad light/ message come on. If i replace the pads, will the message clear or does it need a reset? Does anyone know where to buy the pads at reaosnable price?

If you have the light on, you also need to replace the sensor.
Purchased my gear from Jag & rover spares in BNE - sorry can't help with a reseller local to you.

Just rang an independent garage in sydney who wanted $175 for just pads in parts and $66 for the front sensor in parts without labour. Time to get the hands dirty i think. Who supplied the set (is this front and rear) to you from Perth?

I Paid 130 for pads and 110 ea for rotors on the front, the sensor was still ok but 66 is about as cheap as I've heard...

*Edit* "got" quoted $38.50 for the sensor and $75 for the pads albeit aftermarket pads. Will have a crack at it this weekend.

Edited due to advertising rules. Won't happen again.
