I'm a little confused as to why they are needed unless something has changed with the later models. My 2014 L494 V8SC has the big brakes (380mm front) and I fitted genuine Landrover 20" wheels without any issues.
All, FYI, Compos will shortly be available in 20 inch to suit D5 and other LR (and RR) with larger brake calipers.
cheers
Chris
GreenOvalExperience2 | 18" Alloy Rims
* L462 Discovery, L494 Range Rover Sport, L405 Range Rover
These vehicles use the LR D7 platform and as such have larger braking components than the older L319 Discovery and L320/L322 Range Rovers. The new engine configurations include Land Rover's Ingenium 4 cyl diesels, the TD6 (same as the SDV6 in the D4), the TDV8 and the 5.0 ltr Supercharged.
We have a variant of the 18" rim to suit the 4 cyl diesel vehicles (available through the online shop). For the other engine variants, it is not possible to fit an 18" rim due to the size of the calipers. For these vehicles we have a lightweight 20" offroad rim, offering all the strength and offroad durability of the 18" PD1881. Unlike the Land Rover rims, these 20" rims also fit the V8 models.
Due to the increased space under the wheel arches the L462 / L494 / L405 vehicles will fit larger tyre sizes than the older D4 and Range Rovers, allowing owners to fit tyres such as:
- Nitto TerraGrappler 276/55R20
- BFG KO2 285/55R20
- Cooper STMAX 285/55R20
These rims will be available soon through the online store.

Chris,
I don't know whether they will fit the V8 but I just bought a 20 inch alloy rim from the Barbagallo Owned Tyreright shop next door at a cost of $300 for my second spare. Also another Nitto Grappler 275/55R20 for the wheel for $390. LR want $1250 for their cheapest 20 inch OEM rim. It fits the already huge calipers on the TDV6 Vogue OK. These calipers make the D4 SDV6 calipers look tiny in comparrison!
Also be aware that anything larger than 275 will not allow the spare wheel cover to sit properly at floor level. The 275 just fits in the spare wheel well.
Yes good point - that option might be a lot cheaper for me too!!

My 20" wheels and 255 55 20 Pirelli Scorpion Verde tyres came off a 2017 RRS and only had delivery kilometres, he had swapped to 22s I paid $1100.
