I don't know the cost but it's about an 8 hour job by an experienced person. An existing dummy hole in the side of the block has to be drilled and tapped after removing part of the front suspension and the diff to gain access to the area.

When agreeing to purchase my L322 from a large LR dealer, I asked that the job be included in the deal after presenting the salesman with the front page of the TSB. When I collected the vehicle the business owner made special mention of the amount of work involved, which I already knew but left it to them to discover when they read the whole TSB.

There's a thread on the fullfatrr.com forum where an L322 owner is entertaining the idea of doing this work himself. I've suggested that the later factory-fitted version of the dual drain might easily be fitted to the earlier engines with the addition of a simple bracket rather than having to drill and tap the sump, with the proviso that the L405's secondary turbo's drain attachment at the turbo is the same as the L322's, although the proviso probably doesn't apply to the L405 which likely has the same turbo up until the dual train was factory-fitted. For the L405 at least but possibly also for the L322, the task could be a DIY and hopefully without having to remove the front diff which implies the half-shafts etc, only the drive-shaft to the diff.

I assume this issue is now fixed from the factory and if so what MY did that come into effect?

The dual drain being transferred from a blown engine from a MY14 L405 to the new engine and turbos was factory-fitted - different to the retro-fitted drains and no drilling / tapping for the new engine (sump).
