IMO the winch mount plate should be horizontal.

^^ I suspect that with a downward pull, e.g., with vehicle nose up and the winch line horizontal, there could be a fair bending force on those U-shaped mounting frames. Perhaps it was made that way to allow fitting/removal of the winch without removing the whole mounting system.

The left and right heat exchangers on the L405 are the intercoolers, one for each turbo with one air filter for each turbo also. A bit different to the older models like the D4. Even though I have the TDV6 it still has the twin intercoolers and air filters, completely different from the D4 with the same sort of engine output.

Also, there are no "gills" on an L405. There are fake plastic strips on the front doors to imitate the vents on the L322.

That will make it even worse. No flow through the front will leave a dead area in the engine bay.

The L322 gills don't function as vents as they have no access to the engine bay.

That’s even more surprising, as I can feel heat coming out of them when stationary.

I removed mine when fitting front mudflaps and concluded that they were just dressing.

That’s even more surprising, as I can feel heat coming out of them when stationary. Maybe the inner guard is heating up and radiating heat out.
