MY D3 tells me to slow down at 40km/h and then gives the lowered message at 50km/h

It has the same specs as the L405. I wonder if OR1 is still not user-selectable like the L405 whereby OR1 can only achieved by selecting off-road height above about 40 kph or by travelling faster than 50 kph whilst at full off-road height after which it will also remain at OR1 when below 50 kph.
Its even more of a generic luxury car-like vehicle than i ever imagined. Nothing pragmatic whatsoever for a 4WD vehicle. Makes the luxurious D4 look decidedly utilitarian.
So clever that everything in the range now looks exactly the same.
Inspiring stuff...
The D4 speedo might be showing 55 but my D4 dropped at 51 actual speed, ie over 50.
That is a very good point. The speedo inaccuracies, in this case under-reading with standard shoes on a D4 have been well covered. I'm pretty sure it would be the case for most other vehicle manufacturers.
However, I'd wager most journo's are not using a non OEM GPS to check the speeds, or a radar or laser, they'd just be using the speedo ... like most owners. GPS also suffer from latency issues from time to time as well.
My apologies to shanegtr if he was quoting on precise actuals Vs indicated on the car's speedo.
My point always was around journos having limited knowledge of true specs, parameters, features, etc., and just blindly quoting what they think they have seen, have been told versus reality. E.g., the 40kph gong actually lowering the car Vs just warning, confusing TC controls, difficult to get to recovery points, etc., etc.
I was just quoting what my D3 does via the speedo
It is interesting that the car knows the real speed and then adjusts it up by the settings in the config file. I was looking at stuff with the GAP iiD and found the true speed feed that is less than the speedo speed. It obviously uses that for the lowering speed as well.
